We are pleased to announce that Marie Oucherif will take over the curation and artistic direction of the gallery at Künstler:innenhaus Bremen from May. Taking over from Nadja Quante, Oucherif will be shaping the gallery’s programme from autumn 2025 onwards.
With the start of her work, Marie Oucherif would like to further promote and develop the gallery in the K:H Bremen as a place for active encounters with contemporary art. She convinced the board, the management and external jury members with her background and her proposed program of an ongoing performance program that takes place alongside the exhibitions. She will also further consolidate her focus on artists’ practices that deal with a feminist perspective on history and historiography, inviting internationally established and emerging artists to Bremen.
“I am excited and very much looking forward to continuing the gallery in the Künstler:innenhaus as a place that helps to shape and support the local and international art discourse in a lively way and also challenges it time and again. It is also essential to me to welcome diverse audiences and communities, so I will introduce new formats to enliven the gallery alongside an internationally oriented exhibition program,” says Marie Oucherif.
Marie Oucherif studied Comparative Literature in Vienna and Paris and Curatorial Studies in Frankfurt am Main. She has worked at the Kunsthalle Wien and in the curatorial department of the Museum MMK für moderne Kunst and was most recently assistant curator and project-based curator at the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt. There she worked on the exhibitions Cosima von Bonin – Feelings (2024), Elizabeth Price – Sound of the Break (2023), Niki de Saint Phalle (2023), Carlos Bunga (2022) and WALK! (2022) and curated the exhibition Maruša Sagadin – Luv Birds in toten Winkeln (2023). For the monthly video art platform DOUBLE FEATURE, she has collaborated with artists Peng Zuqiang, Maeve Brennan, Lydia Ourahmane, Pınar Öğrenci and Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński. In addition to her institutional work, Marie Oucherif also works on independent projects, including the solo exhibition Thick Skin, Yet I’m Cold by Maruša Sagadin at Kunstraum Lakeside (2025). She is co-founder and part of the moving image screening collective Sallie Gardner Filmclub in Berlin.
We are looking forward to Marie Oucherif’s program and welcome our new colleague to K:H Bremen!
