Open Studio: Mariia Pelishenko
Artists in Residence Ukraine
Generative Visual, Mariia Pelishenko, Sound Installation in the Guest Studio of KH Künstler:innenhaus Bremen, 2025
On November 27, this year’s Ukrainian resident Mariia Pelishenko will open her studio and provide insights into her work. As part of her residency in cooperation with Artists at Risk, she is exploring various artistic practices, such as field recordings, charcoal drawings, sounds, and generative visualization.
Mariia Pelishenko uses these media to process and document her observations and impressions far away from the war in Ukraine. Despite her new experiences in Bremen, Pelishenko notices “how ordinary everyday objects, detached from the context of war, still remind her of it”. She makes this current process of perception and transformation, the (vain) attempt to find peace, tangible during the Open Studio.
